Being the President of the AH&L Committee in the middle of World War Three did that, but now rumors of witchcraft and Cartel incursions around his Ozark home were making things downright unhealthy. Together with his wily friends Bohdan and company will dodge drafts, hunt cryptids, and burn witches in style to keep their neck of the woods from looking like a New York hellscape. Just another day for the Adventure, Hunting, and Liquidation Committee.

Presented in color for the first time and with its original title. Re-titled to the clunky TIME-JUMP WAR by the publisher, this sci-fi mini series has not been seen since the 1980's. The epic, eons-spanning story features terrific art by my Argentinos amigo Enrique Villagran.

Attend Bardic College in Splendor, the biggest city in the Realm, and graduate their four-year course. It seems easy enough. Along the way to Splendor, Rose meets Bosra, a grey-skinned giant-kin woman who is leaving her adventuring days behind her. Most adventurers don't retire. They either die as heroes or become villains. She intends to enjoy the fortune she's made in the most luxurious place she knows, the city of Splendor. Valentina, princess, contemplates whether there is more to life than what she is accustomed to, when Bosra and Rose find respite to the coffee shop she spends her free afternoons at. One conversation leads to another, and before she knows it, she's encouraged to step out of her gilded cage. Until those who built the cage come to drag her back. A cozy fantasy story.

These are the richer language and pictures read by earlier generations, before the tales were simplified and sanitised for mass-produced ‘modern audiences’. From the mean streets of Moseley to the oceanfront villas of Diamond Beach, crime affects everyone in Avalon. And the presence of the superhumans known around the city as "specials" hasn't necessarily made life for the average citizen any better, since the local vigilantes are as apt to demand payment for their protection as they are to provide their services for free. The crime-fighting duo of King Ace and Fazer are true heroes, not vigilantes, as Fazer explains the difference to a reporter interviewing him for the Avalon Sentinel. A hero doesn't expect thanks or payment, he helps people because it is the right thing to do. And a hero doesn't kill anyone, ever. All Fazer and the big guy are trying to do is make everyday life better for everyone who lives in their city. But even heroes face temptation.
